The Lewis structure of BeF 2 ( Figure 7.15) shows only two electron pairs around the central beryllium atom. ![]() Other interactions, such as nuclear-nuclear repulsions and nuclear-electron attractions, are also involved in the final arrangement that atoms adopt in a particular molecular structure.Īs a simple example of VSEPR theory, let us predict the structure of a gaseous BeF 2 molecule. ![]() We should understand, however, that the theory only considers electron-pair repulsions. VSEPR theory predicts the arrangement of electron pairs around each central atom and, usually, the correct arrangement of atoms in a molecule. The electrostatic repulsion of these electrons is reduced when the various regions of high electron density assume positions as far from each other as possible. The electrons in the valence shell of a central atom form either bonding pairs of electrons, located primarily between bonded atoms, or lone pairs. The VSEPR model assumes that electron pairs in the valence shell of a central atom will adopt an arrangement that minimizes repulsions between these electron pairs by maximizing the distance between them. Valence shell electron-pair repulsion theory (VSEPR theory) enables us to predict the molecular structure, including approximate bond angles around a central atom, of a molecule from an examination of the number of bonds and lone electron pairs in its Lewis structure. Figure 7.14 Bond distances (lengths) and angles are shown for the formaldehyde molecule, H 2CO. Testing a smartphone involves a team of engineers and technicians for about a week. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 7 Pro has the edge in terms of color, across all camera modules and light conditions.įor many test attributes, the iPhone 14 Pro and Honor Magic5 Pro were on a very similar level but when shooting in low light or under indoor conditions, including with the ultra-wide camera, the Honor was the better choice. It also comes with the slightly better video mode and delivers a more consistent still image performance under indoor light conditions and in low light, with faster shutter speeds, excellent HDR processing, and an outstanding texture/noise compromise. However, the Magic5 Pro has an advantage in terms of ultra-wide and tele zoom in low light. Given the Honor’s outstanding results in our testing, it makes sense to compare it more closely to some of the other currently best flagship phones: When pitched against the Google Pixel 7 Pro, both cameras delivered excellent results and were more or less on par in terms of photo and video quality in bright light as well as close and medium range zoom. However, thanks to a very fast aperture its light collection capacity is still impressive. It’s also worth mentioning that, unlike some flagship competitors, the Magic5 Pro does not feature a large 1″ sensor in the primary camera. The improvements on the new model are therefore a great demonstration of what’s possible with a new chipset, better software, and optimized tuning. The Magic5 Pro’s camera hardware specifications are, apart from the chipset (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 vs Gen 1 on the Magic4 Ultimate), very similar to those of last year’s Honor flagship, which were already very impressive. Video clips offered accurate exposure and low noise, but while stabilization was generally effective, frame shift was noticeable when panning or moving with the camera. The Magic5 Pro also did very well for video and is currently the best Android device for recording moving images. With excellent image quality across all ranges, the zoom performances were outstanding as well, with improvements over the previous model, which was already the best device we tested for this aspect. In our tests, the Magic5 Pro shone particularly in our Friends and Family use case, using fast shutter speeds to freeze subjects in motion while capturing excellent detail and keeping noise levels low. 1 spot in the photo ranking, thanks to outstanding photo results across all light levels. With a DXOMARK Camera score of 152, the Honor Magic5 Pro is the new leader in our ranking. Instead of being a point of contrast, these paint hues work well together. The home’s facade is brought together by this warm, earthy brick and paint color mix. Benjamin Moore’s Olympic Mountains Brick and Paint Color Combination This contemporary brick and paint color combination have a subtle drama. It isn’t a harsh black-and-white checkerboard-style combination since Alabaster isn’t a stark white and Tricorn Black isn’t a stark black. When pursuing this approach, we recommend using accents in a darker paint, such as Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black, to enhance dimension and depth. Because this paint hue reads differently on different textures, it’s an excellent choice for a range of exterior housing materials. Sherwin Williams’ Alabaster is a fantastic exterior brick color idea. Sherwin Williams Alabaster with Tricorn Black Simply White has a warm glow that draws attention to and contrasts with the gray undertones of Seapearl. One method to achieve this is to use colors that come from the brick itself. ![]() Second, we want the paint colors to complement rather than contrast with the brick. An off-white will seem white against the brick, but it will be softer. When paired with brick, the dazzling white might look a touch too harsh. If you’re going to use white, for example, go for a creamy white rather than a brilliant white. As a result, we’ll need to keep that in mind while choosing paint colors to complement it. So they proceed to use their last moments on earth making love, apparently ignoring the bombs falling down from the skies above them. They are not scared of their impending death since they know they are dying in each other’s arms. Despite being in the blast site with no place to escape to, the couple is unnerved. The couple are physically and intimately together as a nuclear bomb is being dropped on them. When he tells his lover that he would melt with her, he is not being figurative. The lyrics portray how deep the narrator’s love is for his partner. ![]() But that being said, the long and short of “I Melt with You” is that it is a love song albeit a dark one. This is apparently the reason why certain parts of the lyrics are hard to comprehend. It should be noted that Robbie has stated that he was highly intoxicated when he wrote the lyrics of this song. In those last moments before they are melted together, we can assume goodbyes and promises were exchanged – in hopes to be together in the afterlife. It is at this point that the narrator feels the world has completely stopped while being in the embrace of their significant other. In the chorus, it feels like it’s reached mere seconds just before the bomb hits ground. Using their last breath to make love with their significant other and choosing to be as one till death and beyond. ![]() This is the moment the subjects of this song (a couple) are experiencing. Would time feel like it’s stopped? Would the pleasure of their lips on yours be even sweeter than you could remember before? And lastly, would their touch be equivalent to that of an angel’s? Yet, instead of running for cover, you decide to be your lover’s side and make love. Note, however, that the version of "I Melt with You" is not the bopping hit rendition instead, it's a long, slow remake, perhaps to imply that the friends' lives are not as peppy and exciting as they used to be.Imagine the world about to crash down on you with the blaring sounds of screams and cries. Clearly, these are guys who spent a significant part of their adolescences playing air guitar, and those sounds have followed them into adulthood. Sometimes, the lyrics seem to suggest the movie's themes, such as Big Dipper's "All Going Out Together" and Bauhaus' "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything." The occasional outlier appears, none farther out than all ten minutes of Funkadelic's 1971 psychedelic guitar freak-out "Maggot Brain." (In the album notes, Pellington says that when a DJ friend turned him on to the track, he tried it under every scene in the movie, "and it worked gangbusters.") Even here, though, the electric guitar excursion is a constant. This is often British post-punk/new wave rock, with lots of chiming guitars and portentous vocals. The story of four male friends who stage a weekend reunion each year is pegged to the songs they loved in their youth, that being in the early '80s, and so the 30 songs chosen for use in the film (of which 13 are heard on the soundtrack album, along with a brief taste of the background score by tomandandy) tend to be drawn from that era, not only as performed by Modern English, but also the Specials, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Love and Rockets, the Pixies, Bauhaus, and Adam & the Ants. That title gives an indication of exactly what sort of music, too. Music plays a big part in director Mark Pellington's film I Melt with You, as the title reference to Modern English's 1982 single suggests. ![]() Fresh Decoration Ideas Nicky Sherwood On Nottingham Road Cottage Lounge Cottage. The main key is to find a repeatable section and test it multiple times. With OCAT in hand, any game can be used for GPU testing purposes. (Image credit: Tom's Hardware) Games for GPU Tests Tweaking your fan speed / cooling curve is a great way to reduce GPU temperatures and potentially improve performance, though it comes at the cost of more fan noise. Afterburner works with pretty much any GPU made in the past decade or more, while Precision X1 only works with Nvidia GPUs, which means we typically prefer Afterburner. utilities and just use MSI Afterburner, or maybe EVGA Precision X1. We generally skip the Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock, Sapphire, etc. Many graphics card vendors have custom software that only works with the specific brand of card you purchase, but not all of those software packs offer the same level of tuning. One other tool you still might want is something for overclocking or tuning your GPU, to help improve your benchmark results. But it's not really necessary for GPU tests. HWiNFO64 is your one stop solution to monitoring just about every other component, including motherboard sensors, CPU clocks, and more. Also note that games that use the Vulkan API aren't compatible with framerate overlays in our experience they won't necessarily fail to run, but you won't be able to make the overlay actually appear on screen.īecause PresentMon and its derivatives already capture so much data, there's no need for additional tools like GPU-Z or HWiNFO64, though both are still handy to keep in your back pocket. If you want a framerate counter in the corner, you can give it a shot, but you'll know there's a problem if the game stops launching. Microsoft Store UWP apps and anything else with heavy DRM will often fail to start if the overlay is enabled, so we run without the overlay. One important thing to note is that a lot of games do not like the overlay functionality built into these programs. We've standardized on using OCAT for our GPU testing, but you can use FrameView or even PresentMon if you prefer. Otherwise, all three of these tools spit out the same general file format that gives frametimes, clock speeds, and a bunch of other details. ![]() AMD GPUs however report GPU-only power consumption, which can mean a difference of anywhere from 10W to as much as 100W, depending on the specific GPU (Vega being the worst offender). We've tested graphics cards power consumption using in-line hardware to measure precise loads, and the Nvidia power figures are accurate to within a few watts for Nvidia GPUs. There are minor differences in the interfaces and functionality, with the biggest being that FrameView logs power data. OCAT was created by AMD engineers and is fully open source, while FrameView comes from Nvidia. If you're wondering, FRAPS hasn't been updated since 2013 and has some bugs with Windows 8/10, so it's best to use a modern utility. This is the least user friendly option and we don't recommend it (unless you really like text interfaces), and it's been supplanted by OCAT (Open Capture and Analytics Tool) and FrameView - both of which are based off of PresentMon's core functionality. PresentMon is a command-line interface for logging frametimes. There are three main programs we've used in the past. First, for a lot of real world gaming tests, you need a tool to capture frametimes. Tools of the Tradeīefore you start using one of the best GPU tests, there are a few useful utilities to install. If you're big into running or you use a GPU accelerated application like LuxCoreRenderer, that's great, but specific optimizations for certain GPU architectures can make a big difference in how your PC runs any specific workload. ![]() ![]() Finally, GPU compute tests are usually quite different in how they work compared to games. Synthetic tests are typically very easy to run, but they only tell you how your PC handles that specific benchmark - which may or may not equate to real-world gaming performance. Running a game you actually play, or want to play, is usually the best way to test performance. There are three primary types of GPU tests: actual games, 'synthetic' graphics card benchmarks, and compute benchmarks. |
